A 30-minute weekly cleaning routine

Split the house into short daily tasks so nothing piles up by the weekend.

  1. Monday: wipe kitchen counters, stovetop, and sink.
  2. Tuesday: clean bathroom mirrors, faucets, and toilet.
  3. Wednesday: dust surfaces top to bottom, then vacuum.
  4. Thursday: change bed linens and start laundry.
  5. Friday: mop hard floors and empty all trash bins.

Kitchen cleaning, top to bottom

Work from high shelves down to the floor so crumbs never land on clean spots.

  1. Clear and wipe upper cabinet fronts and handles.
  2. Degrease the range hood filter in hot soapy water.
  3. Clean small appliances, then counters and backsplash.
  4. Scrub the sink and run the garbage disposal with ice and citrus.
  5. Sweep, then mop, finishing at the doorway.

Monthly deep-clean checklist

Tasks that do not need weekly attention but make a big difference once a month.

  1. Wash pillows or put them in the dryer on high for 20 minutes.
  2. Wipe baseboards, door frames, and light switches.
  3. Clean the inside of the microwave and refrigerator shelves.
  4. Vacuum under furniture and along edges.
